Domestic bliss: music for private use
Much of the music in today´s common repertoire was printed, and therefore open to the domain of the “amateur” musician. That is not to demean the music or musicians for which it was intended -accounts indicate that some of the finest musicians were noblemen, “amateurs” because their high status forbade them to earn money for their playing.
Accademia dell’Arcadia explores some of the wide repertoire of music for private use in the 18th century, presenting old favourites with some new appearances.
